My newest creation: a purple wedding dress!
How happy was i to make this dress? Very happy. I even did it at a discount because I was so inspired by the idea of making it. All the lace was hand cut and appliqued with the help of double sided fusing. Choosing a stitch color that didn’t show was tricky. We had to choose a dusty lavender that didn’t show on the mesh with the purple shining through. The lovely bride is getting married in France; lucky girl! Blessing on her wedding.
Here they are, all piling up on the table.
Hearts that take waaaay too long to make! They are pieced from little cut pieces of silk chiffon. Then we spray them with water and fill all the gaps and keep working that way until they become full fluffy multicolor heart explosions!
Appliqued onto tank tops, they come to life.
Here you see them at the early stages of the process. We sew them onto black or white Lycra mesh so that they retain their elasticity. The technique is quite complicated.
Before we sew it onto a top, it gets a little haircut to clean up the edges.
What a mess in the studio when these are in production. Soon we will be making little mini heart pins. Can’t wait.
This dress was made for Andrée and is the first example of the Divine dress from my Spring 2014 collection.
It is a layer of sheer silk chiffon over ivory jersey. We stitched linen lace onto the under layer (not visible in the photo). The top panel of the dress is a piece of vegetable dyed silk and the bride added some beads to the neckline herself.
Blessings on this beautiful couple.
May your love last long and grow stronger every day.
This is my feather mandala dress. I feel like it has magical powers and is charged with the purpose of making women feel beautiful and powerful. But that is another story…. I wanted to show you how incredible it looks with this light brown Ivko cardigan. It is gorgeous. They were made to be together! I always love it when two designers’ collections go so well together. I have always felt that Ivko sweaters were designed for my store. They complement my clothes so perfectly.
That being said, the Spring collections are in the store now! Ivko, KL, Arianne, Metamorphose, Yoga jeans and Ayala Bar.
If you want to shop for any of these brands, check out our online store. Shop here!
Here is the crinoline on the sewing machine getting a custom black hem. Ohhh… it’s for a bride!
Now this is no shy lady, as you can tell from her color choices.
This dress is based on one of my dresses in the store, but we customized the colors for her.
….and I embellished her shoes for her!
every stitch made with love.
Alors j’avais juste envie de te dire “keep on the good work”!
Prend soin des tiens,
Wearing dresses in the Winter is great! But not always easy or warm.
A few easy ideas or accessories will make your wardrobe a little more manageable.
Take this summer dress, for example.
Option A: Add a black turtleneck underneath. Preferably something not too thick so that you don’t notice where the waistband ends. This is a more sporty, casual look.
I sell turtle necks in black, red and blue…all on the 50% off rack right now.
Option B: Add a bolero. I make 4 different models in all possible colors. This one ties in the front and has full length sleeves. This is a more elegant, feminine option.
Choose a dress with a lining, or buy a slip. In the winter we wear thick tights, or leggings under everything. Dresses often cling to your layers and don’t fall and drape properly, not to mention the static created by some carpets!
The Gabriella dress (below) has a built in lining.
Dresses with long sleeves are hard to find. We have winters that are colder than most, so designers are not designing with us in mind. They are designing for all of North America and more moderate climates. That is why some Fall/Winter collections are very un-wintery. Below is my long sleeve Sara Dress in Black with silk multicolor embellishments.
More long sleeve dresses (3/4 sleeve actually). Some women prefer 3/4 sleeve, but I think the problem often stems from not having sleeves hemmed to the exact right length. At the boutique we offer an alteration service on anything purchased here, and I encourage you to always make things fit just right even if it means taking off only an inch.

That would be me reacting to my almost two year old who wants some attention and is walking around wearing winter boots, winter mitts and nothing else!
All these Ivko sweaters, skirts, boleros and tunics can be purchased online or in my boutique.

Here is my art buddie Iris! We love crafting together. She is a brilliant artist (mostly watercolour) and a great graphic designer. She designed my logo and just about all of my corporate branding. We spent a few evenings together over the holidays and decided to collaborate on some paintings together. I dug out some blank canvases and acrylic paints. The goal was to paint her something for her office and we decided to paint some Frida portraits. Afterwards we felt like, with more time, we would love to paint a dozen of them, and some monkeys and parrots too.
