Ivko Linen Coat
Here they are, all piling up on the table.
Hearts that take waaaay too long to make! They are pieced from little cut pieces of silk chiffon. Then we spray them with water and fill all the gaps and keep working that way until they become full fluffy multicolor heart explosions!
Appliqued onto tank tops, they come to life.
Here you see them at the early stages of the process. We sew them onto black or white Lycra mesh so that they retain their elasticity. The technique is quite complicated.
Before we sew it onto a top, it gets a little haircut to clean up the edges.
What a mess in the studio when these are in production. Soon we will be making little mini heart pins. Can’t wait.
This is my feather mandala dress. I feel like it has magical powers and is charged with the purpose of making women feel beautiful and powerful. But that is another story…. I wanted to show you how incredible it looks with this light brown Ivko cardigan. It is gorgeous. They were made to be together! I always love it when two designers’ collections go so well together. I have always felt that Ivko sweaters were designed for my store. They complement my clothes so perfectly.
That being said, the Spring collections are in the store now! Ivko, KL, Arianne, Metamorphose, Yoga jeans and Ayala Bar.
If you want to shop for any of these brands, check out our online store. Shop here!
Here is the crinoline on the sewing machine getting a custom black hem. Ohhh… it’s for a bride!
Now this is no shy lady, as you can tell from her color choices.
This dress is based on one of my dresses in the store, but we customized the colors for her.
….and I embellished her shoes for her!
every stitch made with love.
In my company we call this the sexy dress…and it is tryly a versatile little number. Both dress or tunic (depending on your height or boldness), this dress is also great for maternity. Long enough to cover the belly comfortably and stretchy enough to wear all the way into the third trimester!
The prints are all on a rayon base with Lycra, so it is super soft and feels natural. Basically it is a long t-shirt dress. Pair it with flip flops for a casual pool-side afternoon, or wear with skinny jeans and a bolero to go down to the jazz fest.
The back has a bit of a scoop neckline and the dress is reversible for those who like a lower decoltée in the front.
Bring out your killer instinct in the KILLER WHALE DRESS!
Need a dress to give you a little more backbone and courage? This is it!
Deep-black cotton base with appliqué and stitching in white. This is not a print! This is all done on the sewing machine! Oh yeah!
Where did the idea come from?
My husband Mike was watching “Whale Wars”, a reality TV show about the hard-core activists that brave the arctic trying to disarm illegal whaling ships. He said I should make a whale dress. So here it is.
Tunic or dress you decide…also depends how tall you are and how much leg you like to show. Either way, it will always work with leggings or skinny jeans.
Sizes XS-S-M-L $165 (fair price for a truly unique piece of textile art!)
Here I am (at the end of a long rainy day…) in my new favourite top: The Peace tunic in coral. I liked the material when I purchased it, but wearing it for a few days…now I love it! It got a lot softer and almost feels like well loved linen. The embellishments in the coral tunic are tone-on-tone coral petals.
This is the part we do in the studio. We take the cut pattern pieces and pin little mini petals (that are all hand cut) into position. Then we sew them down with a decorative stitch creating a pretty ivy pattern.
Below is the cutting table covered with beautiful tiny petals and piles of the prettiest scraps.
Each set is hand cut, pinned and stitched. Each one is a little different making it true craft.
The colour combination for the white blouse is pink, red and green. It turned out soo pretty, but you’ll have to come to the boutique to see the final product.
A new bolero every 6 months. That’s my goal. I want to be the bolero expert. This is my first collared bolero and it can also be worn as a wrap top.
The embellishments are all sewn in the studio and each little leaf is hand cut.
The sleeve is 3/4 with a little puff on the shoulder. It’s perfect for hiding those shy arms. Can be worn over a dress or on it’s own. I have matching t-shirts with lace backs at the store if you want to wear it as a twin set. Loving the twin set again. Granny chic!
This wrap top is one of Melow’s every-season classics. It is so feminine, and yet there are no-frills and no flowers. It is great on all body types and covers nicely at the bust without gaping open. Discreet on a larger bust, perfect over the tummy, and both corporate or casual. Really, why not get two!
This cover up twist bolero is a new favourite of mine. Going to the beach or the pool? Perfect to keep the sun of your skin. Do you have narrow shoulders, or a small bust? Perfect for your body type! Do you like to hide a little, but still look fashionable? Perfect. Wear it over a dress, a tank top or pin it closed at the bottom and wear it as a top. Come and try one on! The cotton is sheer, delicate and slubbed.
I call it the Samurai pant, and it is one of our best sellers every year. Yes, we have them in black as well, but how nice is a white pant in the summer on a blazing hot day? It is elegant and contemporary in cut. Must be worn with nude undies in the white because it is slightly (very slightly) transparent on the sides. If you are heading South this Spring, or going on a cruise, these are a travellers delight. Cropped to keep the hem clean, they are the best white pant ever!
Here I am proudly modelling my new banana yellow jeans by Hudson.
They make me happy now eventhough I know I am pushing it with the weather. It is still a bit early to be sporting pastel bottoms (but they are so comfortable and stretchy!!!)
They are by Hudson jeans and they also come in aqua, turquoise and pink.
I made my mother try them on because she kept telling me “they are only for young people”, and “I will look ridiculous in such tight pants”. I gave her one size larger than I would put on someone who wants them sexy. They made her look great! (and now she can’t decide which colour she wants). I am pretty sure she will opt for the aqua. Once she had them on, she was pleasantly surprised by how well they fit and how comfortable they were at the waist. You see, this is not a low rise fashion pant. These are high rise premium denim jeans…they just happen to be available in great colours. You will be seeing a lot of colourful pants in stores this Spring. Take the plunge and try them on! Just go for it!
The stems and blades of grass are stitched in a bright green thread. They have a natural flow and gentle curving movement to them. The mini petals are ever so gently growing in warm tones on one side and cool tones on the other. It is an understated whimsical rainbow. The tunic drapes and hugs your curves in just the right way; tight at the bust and loose around the tummy. With ties at the sides, you can change the drape and shape of the top to suit your mood: let it hang long and flowy or add structural details to your hips.
